Bailey

Meet Bailey! He's a handsome, approximately 2 ½-year-old Belgian/German Shepherd mix with a heart of gold and a brain to match. Bailey is incredibly smart and loves his humans fiercely. He was surrendered as Baileys, but he's shed that extra 's' because he's got more than enough personality on his own! Bailey is a devoted companion who thrives on routine and connection. He was abandoned by a previous owner and was understandably cautious at first, but with patience and kindness from his foster dad, he blossomed into the loving dog he is today.

Ideal Home

Bailey is a "Velcro dog" who wants to be by your side, so a home where he can receive plenty of attention and interaction would be ideal. He thrives on companionship and may not do well in a home where he's left alone for extended periods. While he's not a fan of the crate at night, he will use it when his foster leaves the house. He loves to play fetch and will need an active family who can keep up with his two daily walks of 1.5 miles each. He also enjoys training sessions and is eager to please.

Ongoing Health

Bailey is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He is currently on heartworm prevention.

Training & Support

Bailey is house-trained and bell-trained to go outside. He knows commands such as Sit, Lay, Stay, Place, Kennel, Wait, Leave It, and Cross. He is food motivated and loves to play fetch, but his toys need to be put away when he's done to prevent him from becoming overly persistent with them. Bailey can be hesitant with new people but warms up over time. He barks at motorcycles and sometimes other dogs. He can also be spooked by loud noises or sudden movements, but calm reassurance helps him settle. He has some separation anxiety, but his foster dad uses a camera to check on him and talk to him when he's away, which helps immensely.
