Meet Toby, a 6-month-old, 26-pound Carolina Corgi mix with a heart as big as his adorable ears. Toby's journey began with heartbreak when he was abandoned at a high-kill shelter at just 4 months old. While his mom found a home, Toby was left scared and alone. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped in and gave him the chance he deserved.
Initially terrified of the outside world, Toby found comfort and confidence by watching his foster sisters. Now, he happily goes outside on leash, loves playing with them, and enjoys sunbathing. Toby is shy with new people and needs time to adjust, but once he feels safe, he becomes a loyal, calm, and gentle companion. He's non-confrontational, doesn't resource guard, and has wonderful manners around other animals. He loves to hang out by bookshelves, under desks, or close to his foster sisters. Toby lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them, thriving in the company of other pets who provide him with reassurance and confidence. He's a smart puppy and a quick learner, making progress daily. While he's fine around children, a quieter home without young kids would be best for him to relax and gain confidence. For a family willing to offer patience and kindness, Toby will reward them with unwavering loyalty.
Ideal Home
Toby thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance and confidence. Therefore, a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. He trusts dogs more than humans, and having a canine role model helps him continue building confidence. He would do best in a quieter home without young children. Yards MUST be adequately and fully fenced; electric or underground fences are not accepted.
Ongoing Health
Toby is fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives.
Training & Support
Toby is currently puppy pad trained and has done an excellent job learning where to potty indoors. Because he is still working through his fear of loud noises and the outside world, the focus is on helping him build confidence at his own pace. He is a quick learner and is eager to follow his canine friends when they head outside. With a patient family and a confident dog companion, Toby is expected to transition to outdoor potty training easily.
