Athena, a one-year-old Terrier mix, is a bundle of playful energy and affectionate curiosity! She weighs about 35 pounds and was found in the woods with her siblings, a sad start that has only fueled her spirit. Athena is growing into a wonderfully social young dog who loves to play with other dogs of all sizes and thrives on interaction. She's currently working through some typical puppy chewing phases and will need a home that can provide plenty of appropriate chew toys and guidance. Her zoomies are legendary, and her enthusiasm for life is infectious! With consistency and patience, Athena is maturing beautifully and continues to learn and impress with her sweet nature.
Ideal Home
Athena would thrive in an active home that can provide daily physical exercise and mental enrichment, appropriate chew toys, continued training and structure, social interaction, and companionship. She needs a family that understands puppy behaviors and is committed to her continued development. A home without cats might be ideal, or one with a very cat-savvy individual who can manage slow introductions and clear boundaries, as she might try to engage a cat like she does a dog.
Ongoing Health
Athena is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is a young, active dog with no known current health concerns.
Training & Support
Athena already knows "sit," "down," "drop it," and "come," showing great progress with positive reinforcement. She is eager to learn and will continue to benefit from ongoing training. She is learning social boundaries with other dogs, becoming better at recognizing when play should end.

Applications start by contacting us through Wags. You will be connected with the placement for a video chat after completing an initial screen. Transports run every few weeks, and Athena will be on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time. Our process includes an application, a phone interview, a video call with the foster home, virtual home visit, and personal and vet reference checks.
Transporation
Athena is currently located in San Antonio, Texas. She can be transported once matched to an adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
