Charlie is a wonderfully smart and affectionate 6-year-old collie mix who is eager to please and learning so much about life in a home! He came to us with no known history and clearly had a rough start, but he's proving to be a quick learner and a true survivor. When he first arrived, he was spooked by everyday household items, but with patience and care, he's adapting well. He's even made friends with his foster collie sister and is learning commands and to recognize his name. Charlie is a cooperative boy who loves a good scratch and is incredibly affectionate once he feels comfortable. He's a focused observer, always trying to understand his surroundings, and shows no aggression towards other dogs or people, though he will bark in the yard at passersby. He doesn't jump on furniture and is respectful of his environment. Charlie weighs about 63 lbs.
Ideal Home
Charlie is adapting well to life with his foster sister, so a home with another dog would likely be a great fit. He's learning to be comfortable with new things, so a patient and understanding environment is key.
Ongoing Health
Charlie had tick-borne illnesses and extensive matting on his coat and skin, but he's doing much better with treatment and good nutrition. His teeth have also been cleaned due to Grade 3 dental disease.
Training & Support
Charlie is a quick learner and eager to please, which will be a great asset as he continues to learn. He's still adjusting to everyday noises and sights, so continued patience and positive reinforcement will help him build confidence. He has shown no aggression but will bark in the backyard at people and squirrels.
