Meet Shadow, affectionately nicknamed Slinky Dog by his foster! This tiny, 2-year-old, 7-pound long-haired Chihuahua is a joyful, quirky companion who loves sitting up like a prairie dog, showing off his adorably mismatched-looking eyes, and racing around the living room once or twice a day. After his zoomies, he is happiest curled up on your lap or against your chest for cuddles.

Ideal Home

Shadow would thrive with plenty of attention and gentle handling. Because of his tiny frame, older children who respect small dogs are best; he does well with his foster's 5-year-old. He gets along well with dog-savvy cats and gentle dogs his size. He has not been exposed to larger dogs, though his foster believes he may do well with them.

Ongoing Health

• Shadow is vaccinated and neutered.
