About Teddy

Teddy is approximately 3.5 years old and weighs 10 pounds. His DNA test shows him to be a mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, Bichon, and three other breeds. When he was rescued, he was in rough shape with a matted coat, requiring him to be shaved down. His fur has now grown back beautifully, and he is quite a handsome boy, though he will need regular grooming to maintain his appearance.

Teddy also had mature cataracts in both eyes. He underwent successful cataract surgery on both eyes and, after a couple of months on medication to aid his healing, now has excellent vision. He absolutely loves to be a lap dog, eagerly climbing onto his foster's lap. He gets along with most other dogs, but can be a bit overwhelmed by very active dogs that get in his face, which can make him unhappy. He can be a bit protective of his food and doesn't like to share, so we believe he would do best as an only dog or with an older, quieter companion. Teddy is fairly well house-trained but not perfect. He walks nicely on a leash and enjoys car rides, making him a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal friend.

Ideal Home

Teddy would thrive in a home without children under 8 years old. He would also do best with experienced dog owners. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home or live with a quiet, older canine companion due to his food possessiveness.

Ongoing Health

Teddy has had successful cataract surgery on both eyes and is now seeing well. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Canine Influenza) and is on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.

Training & Support

Teddy is fairly well house-trained but not perfect. He can be snippy when it comes to his food and does not like to share. Consistent reinforcement of his training and clear boundaries around his meals will be important.
