About Tootsie Roll Your Happy-Hippo
Goodness gracious, this girl has something in her eyes that just goes right for the heart. Her expressions are so gentle and warm, it's easy to see what makes her so lovable. Her name is Tootsie, and we have yet to meet someone who knows her and doesn't gush over how much they adore her. Tootsie doesn't demand attention, but easily has you seeking her out because her energy and presence make her your favorite part of the day. She's easy to be around in that quiet, steady way that just feels good.
Go watch Tootsie on YouTube, fall in love, and then come back to read a little more about this cozy, snuggly, slow-paced companion who's waiting for her person. https://youtu.be/xVZOs7nKTdU
Tootsie is estimated to be around 8 years old and weighs 60 lbs. She appears to be a pittie mix, but as always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. What we know for sure? Because she is so fortunate and is in a loving foster home, she is wonderfully mannered, affectionate, and just understands how to live in a home. Tootsie's foster parents are adorable when you ask them about her! They light up like she is their favorite grandchild, and it is easy to see they would call her nothing short of a perfect gem. She is fully potty trained, crate trained, and respectful of their space – no sneaky chewing, no chaos, just a girl who knows her toys are hers and everything else is off-limits. She settles beautifully, sleeps quietly through the night, and can be left home for a few hours without any fuss. Honestly, the title of perfect house guest is well-deserved.
But what really makes Tootsie special is how she loves. She is affectionate in the most genuine, unforced way. She'll happily curl up beside you, gently lean into you, or if you allow it, fully commit to her belief that she is, in fact, a lap dog. Bonus points if blankets are involved because Tootsie is a certified under-the-covers snuggler. Cozy is her brand, and lap dog is a state of mind, not a body type.
She enjoys her days at a slower, more thoughtful pace. Two short walks? Perfect. Long, fast hikes? She'll politely pass. Tootsie is a stop-and-smell-everything kind of girl, taking in the world one sniff at a time. She's great on leash, non-reactive out in public, enjoys visiting coffee shops, and after a quick hello to new friends, she's happy to settle at your feet and just be near you. At home, she loves having a yard to explore and sunbathe in... though fair warning, she does have a passion project involving lizards. It brings her joy. It may not bring your flower beds the same joy. She coexists beautifully with other dogs, showing off her emotional intelligence by reading cues and giving space when needed. She would enjoy a calm, respectful dog friend, but she doesn't need one to feel complete. People are her favorite!
Tootsie already knows a handful of commands like sit, down, paw, and wait, and she takes treats gently. She rides wonderfully in the car, enjoys being out and about, and transitions easily between activity and rest. She doesn't need constant management – she just gets it. If you're looking for a companion who brings calm, comfort, and quiet affection into your home... Tootsie is right here, ready. She doesn't need to prove anything, she just needs someone to truly see her and choose her.
Ideal Home
Tootsie would thrive in a home that enjoys a slower pace of life and appreciates quiet companionship. While she enjoys having a yard to explore, she has a passion for chasing lizards that may not be ideal for flower beds. She coexists beautifully with other dogs and would enjoy a calm, respectful dog friend, but she doesn't need one to feel complete.
