Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix with an estimated DOB of January 2026. He currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Sentry was rescued from the woods in a rural area outside of Houston along with his mother, Wanda, and his littermates. He has grown up in a loving foster home and is described as a happy, affectionate, playful, and endlessly loving dog who brings joy wherever he goes. He is potty trained and is continuing to grow into a confident and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing, friendly, and eager to make new friends, whether they are people or other dogs. He loves playing with other dogs and has done well with children.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature. He would benefit from a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide him. If a home does not currently have a dog, an adopter must have a proactive plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, regular playdates, or supervised daycare. Homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time are preferred due to his age.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the description.
Training & Support
Sentry is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization is very important for his development.
