Last Hope is seeking experienced puppy volunteers to temporarily foster puppies in their homes. Foster families help socialize the puppies and participate in adoption events while the puppies wait for permanent homes.

Ideal Home

Puppies need a fenced yard and a carpet-free area where they can play. Families with school-age children can be a great fit, and everyone in the household should agree to participate. Puppies may wake you early and keep you up late.

Ongoing Health

Last Hope provides puppy food, crates, and toys. Foster families provide towels, cleaning supplies, and newspaper. Foster puppies typically stay in a home for about three weeks before adoption and may be transferred to another foster home before reaching full size.

Training & Support

Foster families help socialize and play with the puppies. Puppies generally begin fostering at 10–12 weeks old, with two or three puppies initially, followed by younger puppies and larger groups. Puppies may weigh 10–20 pounds each.

Application Details

• Fosters must be experienced puppy volunteers, and the whole family should agree to participate.
• All dogs already in the household must be spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and vaccinated against Bordetella.
• Foster families must bring the puppies to adoption days every other Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Apple Valley Petco.
• Applications start by contacting the provider through Wags.

Transportation

Foster families are responsible for bringing the puppies to the scheduled adoption days at the Apple Valley Petco.
