Rufio

Meet Rufio, a handsome Cane Corso mix who currently weighs 66 pounds but is working his way up to an ideal weight of 75 pounds with the help of his foster mom. This sweet boy was rescued from the streets in early January 2026 and is learning daily that he can trust humans.

Rufio is a shy and quiet fellow with a gentle temperament. While it takes him a little time to warm up to new people, he quickly began following his foster mom around, seeking affection, and snuggling on the couch and bed within a week of his rescue. He adores his foster mom and her two children, ages 9 and 11, with the 9-year-old being his absolute favorite! He's a bit intimidated by his foster dad but has shown no aggression, simply retreating to give himself space. The family is taking things slow with him.

Ideal Home

Rufio would thrive in a patient home that can help him feel safe and loved. He enjoys calm, well-mannered doggy friends who can help him gain confidence.

Rufio is currently underweight and is being worked up to his ideal weight.

Training & Support

Rufio is house-trained and signals when he needs to go outside. He is also crate-trained for when his family is out and tolerates it well without accidents. He sleeps soundly through the night, choosing to sleep in his humans' bed or in a crate in their bedroom, as long as he's near them. He is not vocal, only occasionally whimpering when excited or unsure, and his endearing, goofy howl when his foster mom leaves is brief and hilarious.
