About Loki

Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix weighing 40 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods with his mother, Wanda, and siblings, and has grown up loved in a foster home. Loki is the brave and adventurous leader of his litter, always the first to explore and eager to play. He's a champion climber and loves to play keep-away with his toys. While he has plenty of energy, he's also becoming a wonderful companion. Loki is potty-trained, though a few accidents may happen as he adjusts to a new routine. He can be a little hesitant with new experiences but quickly overcomes it. He loves food and will always find his way to the front of the line! After a day of play, he transforms into a cuddly lap dog. Loki enjoys people and other dogs, and he greeted everyone happily at a recent community event. He has some crate experience and has been around children, but has not been tested with cats. He's learning leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.

Ideal Home

Loki is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Loki. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization. Because Loki is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.

Ongoing Health

No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned.

Training & Support

Loki is potty-trained, but expect a few accidents as he adjusts to a new routine. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is essential for building his lifelong confidence.
