Hi, I'm Buck Strickland! You can call me Buck or Roo Roo if you prefer. I'm a happy, bouncy, 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog / American Staffordshire Terrier mix, weighing about 55 lbs. My life started a bit rough when I was found in a box without my mom and sent to a shelter in Texas. Thankfully, Speak for the Unspoken rescued me and brought me to Ohio, where I've been learning that life can be pretty wonderful.
When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a bit scared of everything and shut down. But with a lot of patience and the encouragement of my foster siblings, I've really come out of my shell. I'm proud of the progress I've made and am ready to find my forever family to continue growing and building trust.
I absolutely love to play! Toys are my jam – I enjoy tugging on a rope, chasing balls, and have a blast destroying stuffed toys. Trying to catch a frisbee is my new favorite game. Playing keep-away with my foster siblings is always a good time! After all that excitement, I love to curl up on a soft pillow or the couch for a good rest. I also enjoy sleeping next to my humans at night, as it makes me feel safe and not alone. I can also be your kitchen assistant, especially when it comes to delicious dropped snacks like carrots and cheese – it's a great way to earn my trust!
Ideal Home
I need a patient and understanding family who knows it might take me some time to fully trust them. I thrive with another energetic dog in the home to help me navigate new situations. Because I have a strong prey drive and am very focused on small animals, I need a cat-free, dog-only home. A securely fenced yard with a minimum height of 5ft is a must to keep me safe.
Ongoing Health
I am neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations. I have no known impairments.
Training & Support
I know several commands, including no, come, bedtime, crate, go potty, leave it, and sit. I am potty trained and crate trained.
