Onyx

Meet Onyx, a sweet and charming 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix weighing around 20lbs. This delightful girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will bring smiles to your face every day. Onyx is spayed, vaccinated, and up-to-date on all her preventatives, making her ready to find the loving home she truly deserves. She was rescued from a euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston and has since shown everyone just how special she is. Onyx is currently being fostered in San Antonio.

Ideal Home

Onyx would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She loves a good walk but is ready to settle in for cuddles and naps once she gets a little winded. She has done well with respectful children ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

Ongoing Health

As an older gal, Onyx has a bit of arthritis, so a home that understands and can accommodate her needs is important.

Training & Support

Onyx is house-trained and sleeps in her crate at night by choice. She can be crated for up to 10 hours if needed. She does not resource guard or show food aggression and can be trusted to free-roam the house without being destructive. She can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dogs, which is something to be aware of.

Transportation

Onyx is currently located in San Antonio, Texas, and can be transported out of state to approved adopters. Transports run every few weeks, and Onyx will be on the next available transport once approved.
