Meet Norman!

Norman is a sweet, snuggly four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs 73 pounds. He's nicknamed the "velvet hippo" and has a big heart, charming tortilla chip-shaped ears, and a lovable look. Norman is a gentle, goofy soul who enjoys cuddles, comfy dog beds, and quality time with his people. He's a classic couch potato with a silly streak, often flopping onto his back for a charming grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs are among his favorite activities. He thrives with love and structure, and while his routine is flexible, he's happy with quiet companionship and daily mental stimulation.

Ideal Home

Norman would do best in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard. He needs a home without small children. He is compatible with older, respectful children and some dogs, provided introductions are slow and careful.

Ongoing Health

Norman is up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. He had a dental cleaning with extractions in January 2024.

Training & Support

Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows commands like "sit," "stay," "down," and "place." He is currently mastering "leave it." He responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. Norman can be selective with dogs and new people and has shown reactivity in certain situations, requiring careful introductions and continued guidance outside the home. While he has had a bite incident, those familiar with him describe it as an accident in a specific circumstance. Continued obedience training and positive reinforcement will help him stay confident and successful on walks. He will come with four professional training sessions and a month of behavioral guidance from a consultant.
