About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, about 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's estimated to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and adores doting humans. She's a curious and confident explorer, always investigating new things and people. Annie is a social butterfly who loves meeting new friends, both human and canine, making her a great companion for an active family that wants their furry friend involved in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor allows her to adapt easily to different environments and enjoy family adventures. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or chasing toys. Annie has the perfect balance of playful energy and a laid-back cuddle bug vibe, enjoying running and exploring, but also loving quality time and snuggles. She's also great at entertaining herself with toys or napping when her foster mom works from home. Annie would fit beautifully into various homes, loving an active family for walks and outdoor fun, or a family for cozy evenings at home.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors, including their dog in everyday activities. She would also be equally happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. She would love a fenced yard for running and playing. While she would thrive with another playful, friendly dog and some children, she would also be happy as the "only child" getting all the attention. She would love to have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and would be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going. She would love to join her humans for casual neighborhood walks or longer nature trails. Annie cannot go 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or doggy daycare is recommended if her humans have longer days at work occasionally. She would do best with older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to be careful when handling her, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. Her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human toys while she's teething. She would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. Public dog parks are not recommended for Annie.
Ongoing Health
Annie is a puppy who is starting to teeth.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood carried in her doggy pouch. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills. She alerts her foster family she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment. She would love to have a family that is home more often than not, or someone who works a hybrid schedule or works from home.
