Meet Leo and Lilly, the most charming double dose of dachshund sweetness you'll ever encounter! Leo, with his handsome brick-colored coat, is a happy-go-lucky boy who thrives when he's with his sister. He's good with other dogs, including bigger ones, and is happily crate trained. Leo loves to snuggle up in a cozy dog bed or a comfy chair, especially if he can burrow under the covers with his favorite people. He's easy-going and laid-back, enjoying leisurely explorations of his foster home's fenced yard and even dabbling in a bit of mole-hunting. Mostly, Leo is a devoted love bug who just wants to be near his humans.
Lilly, a lovely black and tan lady, is an equally affectionate sweetheart. She enjoys naps, snuggling in chairs, and simply being in the company of her people. Like Leo, she has a playful side, occasionally digging with one paw in pursuit of a mole. After these adventures, or on early mornings, she might limp slightly on her right front leg due to arthritis. Lilly also has Cushing's disease, a condition she was recently diagnosed with. She takes a daily pill, which she happily eats, often wrapped in cheese, to manage her condition for the rest of her life. Periodic bloodwork will be needed to ensure her dosage is correct, but this diagnosis hasn't dimmed her spirits one bit! She remains a happy, loving dog, ready for all the affection. These two are inseparable and have so much love and appreciation to give!
Ideal Home
Leo and Lilly need a home with a fenced yard, as they enjoy exploring and have shown some interest in digging. They are good with other dogs and are assumed to do well with cats, though this has not been tested. They are also recommended for homes with children.
Ongoing Health
Lilly has Cushing's disease and will require lifelong medication and periodic bloodwork to manage her condition. She also has some arthritis in her right front leg. Leo is generally healthy.
Training & Support
Leo is crate trained and house trained is in progress. Lilly is assumed to do well on a leash. They are both happy to be with their people and are described as laid-back and easy-going.
