About Frito
Meet Frito — Your Adventure Buddy With a Goofy Heart of Gold
Two-year-old Frito has been on quite the journey—from the edge of euthanasia to rediscovering joy, confidence, and his trademark floppy-tongued grin. Now thriving in foster care, this bouncy ball of energy is looking for a committed, experienced home that appreciates progress, structure, and a whole lot of personality.
Frito is an adventurer at heart. He starts every day ready to move, explore, and play. His exercise routine currently includes: • 2–3 fetch sessions per day (his favorite!), • 3–5 miles of walking or running, often more, • And plenty of general play to burn off his joyful zoom-fuel.
He is highly play-motivated and has a hilarious habit of carrying a ball everywhere “just in case.” He also sploots at every opportunity, lets his floppy tongue hang wildly, and melts into any human he trusts—once he's decided you're his person, good luck getting him off your lap.
Frito is a mix of bold and tender. He can be mouthy when overstimulated or meeting new people, and he can feel uncomfortable with hands reaching over his head or back. He opens up to women a bit faster, but he does well with men too—he simply needs slow intros and patience. He is not socialized with children, and due to his reactivity and mouthiness, he needs a kid-free home.
Frito is dog-selective. He has potential with smaller, gentle females (like his friend Roo), but he does not get along with larger males. When he was found, he was with a dog buddy his size, so the right match is possible—but he needs slow, experienced introductions and rescue involvement for safety.
This boy has made real progress, but he's still learning the ropes of home life: • Paw handling (he dislikes his feet touched but is improving) • Reactivity on walks (squirrels are still VERY suspicious) • Doorway manners and impulse control • Separation anxiety, which his foster manages with structure and a calm environment • Toy guarding, which has improved significantly—he allows his foster to take balls from his hoard without issue
Frito is the definition of resilience. He is confident, affectionate, silly, expressive, athletic, loyal, and full of heart. His foster says: “He's an overall great guy, and I'll be bummed when we don't get to hang out every day.” Frito isn't looking for perfection—just someone patient, active, and experienced who can continue guiding him through the world while celebrating every win along the way. If you're ready for a dedicated adventure partner with a goofy soul and endless potential, Frito is waiting—with his favorite ball and a heart ready to belong. Adopt Frito. Change his story—and let him change yours.
