RASCAL

This 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, weighing about 30 lbs, has shown incredible resilience and determination. He arrived in tremendous pain from polyarthritis and was struggling to walk, compounded by the effects of untreated hypothyroidism. Today, Rascal has made remarkable progress, able to take short 4-5 minute walks and brightening our days with his spirit. He will likely require ongoing treatment for both conditions and a special diet for life. Rascal currently sports an adorable "lion cut" after needing a shave, and while his coat may not fully grow back, his sweet and affectionate personality shines through, letting you know exactly when he's ready for some love.

Ideal Home

Rascal is looking for a dedicated adopter who can provide the physical support he needs, including regularly helping to lift and carry him (he's about 30 lbs) as he continues his mobility journey.

Ongoing Health

Rascal is likely to need ongoing treatment for polyarthritis and hypothyroidism, and will require a special diet for the rest of his life.

Training & Support

Rascal is not fully house-trained overnight, but he does keep a clean space during the day and can manage if taken out for potty breaks every few hours.
