Meet Michelle! This 3-year-old, 48-pound spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix is a real sweetheart who was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter. She's living her best life in a foster home in Houston, Texas, and is eager to find her forever family. Michelle is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and loves to socialize, especially with other dogs. She enjoys playing and napping with her foster siblings, and while she can get a little enthusiastic, she's great at reading their cues and adjusting her play style. Michelle has a good balance of energy for outdoor fun and a mellow, happy demeanor for indoor lounging and snoozing, making her a wonderful house companion.
Ideal Home
Michelle would do best in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can provide her with love, structure, and plenty of playtime. She has met children ages 8 and up and was very sweet and loving. However, due to her tendency to jump when excited, we recommend a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy younger teens who can manage her enthusiasm. Michelle would also do well in an apartment or urban setting, provided she receives consistent exercise and enrichment.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy 3-year-old mix. As a rescue, she has been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken, crate trained, and even chooses to rest in her crate during the day. She is very food motivated and learns quickly, though she can be a bit sneaky with food and is best fed separately. She responds well to redirection. While Michelle walks fairly well on leash, she tends to pull and would benefit from continued leash training and structure. She loves to chew, especially on things found outside, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important. She is also an escape artist who can scale fences, so a secure yard or consistent leash walks are a must.
