Michelle

Michelle is a 3-year-old, spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix who weighs about 48 pounds. She was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and is now thriving in a foster home in Houston, Texas, waiting for her forever family. Michelle is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social, especially with other dogs, and loves to play and nap with her foster siblings. While she can get a little carried away when playing due to her size, she's never aggressive and adjusts her behavior well. She has plenty of energy for outdoor play but settles beautifully indoors, making her a happy and mellow house companion. Michelle has met children ages 8 and up and has been sweet and loving with them, but she can jump when excited. We recommend a home with children 12 and up or dog-savvy teens who can manage her enthusiasm. She is fully housebroken, crate trained, and enjoys spending time in her crate. Michelle is very food-motivated and learns quickly, but she can be a bit sneaky around food, so she is fed separately and benefits from guidance during snack times. She responds well to redirection and is continuing to work on her manners. Michelle walks fairly well on a leash but tends to pull, and continued leash training and structure will help her improve. She loves to chew, especially on outdoor finds, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important. Michelle is also an escape artist who can scale fences, so a secure yard or leash walks are a must. Despite this, she would do well in an apartment or urban setting with consistent exercise and enrichment. Michelle is quirky and affectionate, always wanting to be near her people, often resting her upper body on laps or hovering nearby for attention. She would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and playtime. She is a goofy, lovable girl who will bring joy, laughs, and plenty of cuddles to her future home.
