Meet Ruby, a delightful 3-year-old, 60 lb Lab/Cattle Dog mix with a spirit as bright as her smile! Even though she faced a health challenge called strangles as a puppy, which left some charming scars on her face, she's now a healthy, happy, and energetic girl who's ready to find her forever family. Ruby's a smart cookie who's already mastered house and kennel training, and she actually finds comfort in her crate when her people are out. She adores her walks, is making great progress with her leash manners, and is more interested in sniffing out new adventures than interacting with other dogs on the go. At home, Ruby is a toy enthusiast who loves everything from chew bones to treat-filled Kongs. She's also a professional snuggler who enjoys being close to her humans, whether it's cuddling on the couch or simply resting nearby. Ruby is still building her confidence in new situations and can sometimes get a bit overstimulated, leading to excited jumping. She's actively learning to channel that energy in more positive ways.
Ideal Home
Ruby would thrive in a calm, adult-only home with an experienced adopter who understands anxious or reactive dogs. A structured environment where she can continue her training and build confidence is key. She might do well with one balanced, friendly dog or a calm, dog-savvy cat, provided introductions are handled carefully. Homes with small pets or young children are not a good fit for Ruby.
Ongoing Health
Ruby is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She does not have any special needs or require medication.
Training & Support
Ruby is working on managing her anxiety and reactivity, especially in new situations. She sometimes jumps when excited and needs guidance on channeling her energy. Consistent training for 3–6 months is recommended to help her reduce reactivity, manage anxiety, and learn boundaries. She has the potential to thrive with the right approach.
