Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound bundle of joy with a heart as big as her spirit! Penny is a delightful Shepherd/Husky mix who is ready to embark on her next great adventure – finding her forever home. She's a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives on activity, engagement, and plenty of snuggles with her favorite people. Penny is curious, social, and always ready for whatever comes next, whether it's a game of fetch or a cozy cuddle session.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home where she can stay engaged and close to her people. She enjoys the company of other confident, medium-to-large dogs who can match her playful energy and help her practice her social skills. Given her exuberance and potential herding instincts, a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively would be ideal. A cat-free home is recommended due to her outdoor prey-driven behavior.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a healthy girl who has been spayed. She has shown some prey-driven behavior outdoors and can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs. These are manageable behaviors that have shown great improvement with clear boundaries and respectful management in her foster home.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and learning to be more comfortable with separation. She prefers to be close to her people and may whine or bark when alone, stemming from her deep bond with her humans. She hasn't been crate trained yet but is learning to be confined to a designated area when home alone. She can be trusted loose in the house with items picked up and food put away, though she has a soft spot for chewing on dog beds when bored. Penny enjoys leash walks and would benefit from an adopter who loves walks, hikes, or sniffy adventures to provide her with consistent mental and physical outlets. She is smart and eager to please but needs a patient adopter who will go at her pace. Penny has likely experienced past trauma and may flinch easily, requiring reassurance and calm, consistent care to help her blossom into a confident companion.
