Meet Callie! This beautiful, sweet, playful, and affectionate girl is nearly seven years old and has spent her entire life waiting for her forever home. Callie was rescued from a high-kill animal control as a young pup. Despite her sunny disposition and bubbly personality, she has been repeatedly overlooked. Callie is a shelter favorite, and we love her beyond measure. She has been nothing but amazing since she arrived all those years ago, but the confinement has taken a toll on her psyche. She is outgoing with those she knows and loves her people, enjoying playtime in the yard. However, Callie is afraid of the outside world and getting into cars, likely due to a past negative experience. We believe that with a loving, stable, and quiet home, a fenced yard, and some time to adjust, Callie will blossom into the most loyal and loving companion. She can be a little shy with new people, but she is not aggressive, just reticent. After years of limited social interaction, this is understandable. For those she loves and trusts, her bond is strong, and her attention will fill your heart. We've seen many long-term residents transform into confident dogs, learning to enjoy car rides, walks, and meeting new people and other animals with gentle guidance and love.
Callie is a hoot and keeps us laughing with her antics, happy tail wags, and smiling face. She is incredibly friendly when she feels safe and absolutely LOVES being with her people. She enjoys ear and belly scratches, romping in the yard, and can be a strong leash walker, but knowing this helps prevent surprises. Callie is affectionate and welcomes lots of attention! She doesn't tend to like other dogs, possibly due to fear, and she chases cats. We think Callie will do best as an only pet. She is a fantastic girl with so much love to offer.
