About ROVE*

MEDICAL DEADLINE Name: Rove Animal ID: A886064 Age: 1.3 years Weight: 86 lbs. Web Link: 24petconnect.com/PimaAdoptablePets/Details/PIMA/A886064 About: Rove is in urgent need of medical foster/adopter/rescue home as they need time recover from distemper virus. Distemper is not contagious to adult, fully vaccinated dogs, and safe around cats, which means many households may be able to help. A medical foster provides a quiet space and comfort while receiving medical guidance and support from the shelter team. He needs placement out of the shelter as soon as possible is critical to give him the best chance to heal in a calm, supportive environment. His recovery is expected to take approximately three months. PACC provides foster team support and PACC Clinic provides care. Donated supplies are given to fosters and foster have first dibs on adoption. Rove is a goofy, bouncy, big puppy who has tons of puppy energy to spare! During a brief adoption we learned a ton about him: - He’s super affectionate - He walks well on leash and was house trained - He’s smart and knows ‘sit’ - He’s athletic and needs a secure yard Rove is less than a year old and will thrive with structure and training to hone all of his big boy skills. He’d do great with an active family and would love to be included on adventures. Rove is truly a people- person and loves nothing more than to be ascloseaspossible to those he loves! Here’s what one of his friends at the shelter have said: “Rove went on an overnight trip. He greeted me at his kennel with a big woof and play bow. I found out right away that he is not a fan of getting in the car, but during the ride he was very calm in the car and just laid down. Rove is very treat motivated and wants to please. We went for several walks and Rove was great. He was curious about all of the scents and checked in frequently with me for reassurance. He was a loose leash walker for the majority of the walk and was a very good boy overall. Rove met several adults on our walk and while visiting. He was very friendly, allowing pets, and then then asking for pets. He appears to be very people oriented and took a great liking to my husband, who wasgenerous with the treats. Rove was very affectionate and playful during his visit. While I was working on my laptop he played with toys or took a nap on the couch. When I was doing housework, he followed me around the house, curious about everything I was doing. At night I slept on the couch and he slept on the floor next to me. I was sad to have to bring him back to PACC. He is such a sweet and loving big puppy!” Rove has been working with a volunteer trainer on skills like loose leash walking and commands like sit, touch, look, place and find it. He loves people and is eager to please! Rove has a care package and in- home training support available to help him succeed in his future home- Adoption/Foster Process: All interested parties must meet the dog at PACC before their deadline. Once introductions are complete and if the IP has decided this dog may be a good fit, the process is as follows: Interested parties: • Must visit PACC before the deadline to meet with an adoption/foster counselor who will go over notes and introduce you to the dog. Collaboration with Rescue Groups: • Rescue groups are encouraged to reach out to PACC immediately if they will pull this animal into their rescue (and if there are requirements: Interested adoptive party, spay/neuter if not already completed, etc.) • Rescue groups are encouraged to start their adoption process with any interested parties who have contacted them directly and email PACC at STRMedical@pima.gov.
