Meet Penny, a delightful 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix with a bright spirit and a heart full of love! Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives in an active environment where she can stay engaged and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always ready for her next adventure or a good cuddle session. Penny is eager to please and ready to learn, and with the right guidance, she'll blossom into an even more confident and devoted companion.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help channel her energy positively. She needs a cat-free home due to prey-driven behavior observed outdoors. While she's lived with other dogs and enjoys their company, she'd be happiest with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can set healthy boundaries, as she's still learning dog social etiquette and can sometimes be a bit too enthusiastic with smaller or more timid dogs. She's also still learning to be fully comfortable with separation, preferring to be close to her people, so a home where she doesn't have to be alone for extended periods would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a healthy girl! She has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained. She has a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored, so keeping items picked up and food put away is recommended. She can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, which is managed with separation during mealtimes and treat times. She is not yet crate-trained and may whine or bark when separated, but this stems from her desire to be near her humans. Penny flinches easily and needs reassurance, so a calm, consistent, and patient approach will help her continue to feel secure and loved. Leash walks are a favorite, and she settles in with guidance, but consistent mental and physical outlets are key to her well-being.
