Rio- in foster home

Rio is a high-energy, 3-year-old mixed-breed dog who is dog friendly. He may need patience while adjusting from a stressful shelter environment and could show more of his personality as he becomes comfortable.

Ideal Home

Rio would benefit from an active home prepared to work patiently on leash skills. He can be petted all over, including his head, mouth, body, feet, and tail.

Ongoing Health

• Current on shots
• Microchipped and licensed
• Heartworm tested, as required for dogs over 6 months
• Receives monthly flea and tick treatment and heartworm prevention with NexGard PLUS
• Adoption fee: $95 for adult dogs
• Spay/neuter is completed before the adoption is finalized

Training & Support

• Knows how to sit, give paw, and lie down
• Currently avoids the leash and pulls a bit once leashed
• Takes treats somewhat sharkily, but not too hard
• Showed no interest in toys during the assessment, possibly due to stress

Application Details

• To ask questions or meet Rio, visit the shelter during operating hours.
• Applications start by contacting the provider through Wags.
• A behavior assessment is completed before adoption to evaluate initial behavior toward people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
