About Dahlia Daisy Flower the MINI Lab
Fostered in Marysville, WA is a 10 month old "itty bitty labbie pittie" named Dahlia! Like the flower, she is delicate and beautiful. And ohhhh so sweet! She is currently 35 pounds, and will likely not grow to be much more than 40-45 pounds.
After a peaceful night in her "den" (crate) Dahlia emerges ready to take on the day! After a potty break and some morning zoomies in the backyard, a brisk walk takes center stage. Dahlia's leash skills are near perfect! Unless there's a squirrel in the vicinity ;) Dahlia's love of movement is not just for the neighborhood. She LOVES hitting the trails and parks, and making all the friends she can find! Dahlia's love of dogs really shines as she knows no strangers. With people, she is shy but sweet, and warms quickly! If there is a creek or river along the trail, don't be surprised if she jumps on in! Dahlia would make an amazing camping companion during those PNW summers!
During the workday, Dahlia makes herself comfy and cozy at her foster mom's side on the floor, happily snoozing while she works, and enjoys her zoomies breaks throughout the day with the four (4) other resident pups in the home! Dahlia currently lives with 2 small female dogs, 1 medium size male dog, and large female dog, and gets along beautifully with all of them. With small dogs, they need to be able to assert their own boundaries and issue proper corrections so that she knows how they like to play. One of Dahlia's favorite pass times is finding pine cones to throw up into the air and chase, and finding big sticks to carry around LOL.
Dahlia is crate and house trained, but will cry in her crate at first when left alone. She does settle eventually, but has quite the voice! This should be a consideration for homes with shared walls. Dahlia could absolutely live in a dog friendly apartment or condo, though, as long as she receives plenty of exercise.
When the workday is done, it's time for another stroll through the neighborhood or nearby park! Dahlia has a really nice, balanced energy, but she is a young pup and thrives with at least two walks per day to burn off that puppy energy. She would also be happiest with another playful dog in the home, or the opportunity to regularly visit doggy daycare if her people work full time outside of the home. She is a very dog-social girl who lives for the companionship of other canines.
She has not been tested with cats or children yet, but we think she would likely do very well with respectful children 8 and up who will play with her. We can arrange an overnight cat test if needed.
Dahlia is a FANTASTIC copilot in the car. She hops right on in and thoroughly enjoys the ride. She is not anxious at all and will usually just lay down.
Meal time is one of Dahlia's favorite times of the day! She has a great appetite, but takes her time and doesn't inhale her food. She does not overreact if another dog approaches her bowl, but of course we always encourage separate eating spaces for multi dog homes.
When the day is done, Dahlia settles beautifully in her crate at night without a peep. This took some time for the routine to be established, and it is expected that this will need to be re-established in her new home. Though, eventually, she would love to be able to share the bed with her humans :)
Overall, Dahlia is a sweet, silly, snuggly, fun and lovely pup who is excellent out in public, enjoys adventures, and will make some lucky family very happy indeed.
Were committed to giving you thorough personality and behavioral insights to help ensure shes the perfect match for your home. And if you'd like to meet her first, were happy to set up a FaceTime call so you can get to know Dahlia before signing any paperwork!
