Meet Murphy!

Murphy is a wonderfully affectionate, goofy, and playful two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs 70 pounds. He greets every day with enthusiasm, his floppy ears and golden coat are just the start of his charm! Murphy loves to "talk" with little happy noises and enjoys long walks, car rides, chew toys, and zoomies in the yard. He's a smart cookie who responds well to positive reinforcement training and is already mastering commands like sit and lay down, with progress in stay and recall. Murphy is social with other dogs and would do best with a confident canine friend. He enjoys doggy daycare and also loves to settle in for snuggles and quiet time.

Ideal Home

Murphy would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion. A home without children is recommended due to his anxiety around new people and fear-based behaviors. He needs a calm, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity, and can provide a peaceful environment with slow introductions to new people and surroundings.

Ongoing Health

Murphy has some anxiety, especially in unfamiliar or chaotic environments, and has shown fear-based behaviors. He has had three incidents where he nipped or bit, stemming from fear. He benefits from a mindful diet, and chicken has been removed as a precaution due to suspected skin sensitivities. Regular soothing baths help keep his skin comfortable.

Training & Support

Murphy can be a little nervous around some men, though he has made great progress with consistent training, patience, and love. He needs continued support to build his confidence. Slow introductions and gentle guidance will help him blossom.
