Sentry is a happy 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He is being fostered in Houston, Texas. Sentry and his littermates were rescued from the woods with their mother, Wanda, during a Texas freeze. He has had the chance to grow up loved and cared for in a foster home, and now he's ready to find his forever family!
Sentry wakes up every day with a joyful spirit, eager for cuddles, playtime with his siblings, and fun adventures like walks and chasing the water hose. He loves people, other dogs, and life in general! He's a goofy, affectionate, and playful companion who will greet you with enthusiasm every day. As an older puppy, Sentry has a wonderful balance of playful energy and a developing calm demeanor. He is potty trained and growing into a confident and well-rounded dog.
Sentry is one of the most outgoing males in his litter, always ready to make new friends. He loves interacting with other dogs and has done well around children. He's continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. While he is past the tiny puppy stage, he is still an adolescent and needs a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature.
Ideal Home
Sentry thrives with continued socialization and positive reinforcement. We prefer homes that have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide him. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, such as training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we also prefer homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
