Mabel

Mabel is a delightful 2-year-old, 54 lb. red and white Basset Hound mix who arrived as a stray. She's a true Basset Hound, full of charm, stubbornness, and a personality as big as her ears! Mabel is like a living cartoon, complete with selective hearing, Olympic-level sniffing skills, dramatic facial expressions, and a belief that all humans should be paying attention to her. She's a slightly more compact model, making her easier to fit on the couch, but don't let her size fool you – she's still plenty of hound! Mabel is social, playful, clean in her area, and happiest when life includes people, activity, and a good game.

Ideal Home

Mabel needs a home that can keep up with her energy and doesn't mind a little Basset-induced chaos. She does not have an "inside voice," so a home that appreciates vocal enthusiasm is a must. She also believes ears are a community resource, so be prepared for her to investigate and possibly chew on ears – both yours and other dogs'. Ignoring her is not a long-term strategy, so an active and engaged household is ideal.

Mabel is a social and playful dog who enjoys games. She's demonstrated talents in sweeping hair piles with her whole body and "quality-control testing" dog beds through strategic destuffing. Prospective adopters should be prepared for her enthusiastic vocalizations and her interest in ears.
