Gina is an 8-month-old, 56lb spayed female Belgian Malinois mix who was found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box by a busy road. Despite her rough start, she's blossomed in foster care and is ready to find a loving forever home! Gina is a playful pup who enjoys the company of her foster siblings, especially when playing tug-of-war. She can be a bit wary of unfamiliar dogs, particularly larger ones, due to a past negative experience, so slow introductions are key. She currently lives happily with small dogs under 15 lbs and large dogs over 75 lbs. Gina is a bit too enthusiastic about neighborhood cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. She hasn't been around children in her foster home, but with her tendency to jump up when excited and her large size, we suggest a home with older, dog-savvy children (10+). Gina absolutely adores toys, collecting them all in her bed, and has mastered fetch, though she's also great at entertaining herself.
Ideal Home
An active home with someone who will play with her daily and provide plenty of exercise, play, and enrichment. A family with older kids (10+), a couple, or even someone living alone would be a great fit. Another dog in the home is recommended to keep her company and help her burn off energy. A cat-free environment is preferred.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and working on house training, with no accidents when crated up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She prefers to eat her treats alone and is in the "puppy velociraptor stage," meaning she'll need guidance on appropriate chew items. Adopters should be prepared to provide regular socialization and positive training.
