Meet Bart! He's a handsome German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as he is! Bart is not only loving but also a loyal protector and companion. He was found starving and trapped at a known dumping site for dogs, truly cast away. After going to a shelter, he was rescued from being next in line for euthanasia. His story is far from over, and he has so much more love to give! Bart is very affectionate and enjoys giving hugs and kisses. He loves car rides and would make a great adventure buddy, perfectly balanced with plenty of chill time on the couch or lounging in the yard. As his Shepherd heritage suggests, he is incredibly smart and responds well to training, especially when treats are involved! Bart longs to love and be loved, and he deserves a wonderful life. He would make a fantastic addition to any family.
Ideal Home
Bart would do best in a home where he can be your loyal companion. He needs a family willing to put in the time to train him around cats, as Shepherds are not known for being good with them unless trained. Bart can be selective with other dogs and will give a polite warning growl when he's had enough, but he is not aggressive.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines, including Distemper-Parvo w/Lepto, Bordetella, and Rabies (if age appropriate). They receive monthly flea and heartworm prevention and have fecal and heartworm testing. Most of our dogs are de-wormed at least twice unless negative fecal results are received. Bart is neutered.
Training & Support
Bart is smart and responds well to training, especially with treats! His adopter should be prepared to work on proper introductions and training around cats and to recognize his cues when he's had enough with other dogs.
