About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix with a heart of gold and a zest for life! He's currently enjoying his foster life in San Antonio, Texas, but is ready to find his forever family. Comet, also known as Buddy, was rescued from the streets and brought to the county shelter, but his journey has led him to a loving foster home where he's blossomed into a playful and affectionate companion.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog, as he loves to snuggle and play with his current canine sibling. He's also done well with indoor cats and kids, though his herding instinct means a home with children aged 10 and up, or those who can understand animal behavior cues, is recommended.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

This smart cookie is fully house, crate, and leash trained, and he's a dream to walk, never pulling on the leash! He sleeps soundly in his crate and alerts you when he needs to go potty. While he doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, he does have a tendency to "taste test" things when unsupervised, so he's crated when left alone. Comet can be a bit wary of men initially, but with patience and consistency from his new family, he quickly warms up, especially since he adores his foster dad! His favorite thing is to please, making him a joy to train.
