Arnie is a young, soulful, affectionate 45 lb. Mountain Cur/Boxer mix who just wants to feel safe and settled in a home of his own. He transforms in a calm home environment, becoming a snuggler and a leaner who rests his head on you and lets out a deep sigh when he knows he's safe. Arnie bonds deeply with people and keeps a watchful eye on what you're doing. He settles and waits patiently when you step out briefly, always happy and relieved to see you return. He's also been wonderful with visitors, happily snuggling with them. Because the shelter environment can be overwhelming, he doesn’t always show his best side in a kennel. Sometimes he hangs back and watches, or the excitement can make him jump up and seem a little intense. Any verbal cues he might make are simply his way of protecting himself while he figures out a new situation, not aggression. Give him a moment to approach at his own pace, and the loving dog underneath appears very quickly. He can live with other dogs with slow, respectful introductions. He communicates clearly when he needs space and would likely do best with calmer companions rather than rough, high-energy playmates. Arnie has been excellent about house manners and is consistently potty trained, with no accidents indoors.
Ideal Home
Arnie would thrive in a calm household with a fenced yard. He might do well with older children, with thoughtful introductions. He would do best with someone who appreciates a sensitive, loyal dog.
Ongoing Health
No ongoing health concerns are mentioned.
Training & Support
