Trix is an 8-month-old, spayed female Pitbull mix weighing about 35 pounds. She's a shy girl with the sweetest, smartest soul, who was surrendered to a shelter with her brother. While her brother has found his forever home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence. She was significantly undersocialized early in life and her baseline is fear of humans. However, she has never shown any reactivity. When she's unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide, but she is gentle and very quiet. Trix is incredibly observant and picks things up quickly; she figured out the doggy door within just a couple of days. After a few days in a new environment, she begins to soften. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she grows more comfortable and will eventually play with toys, run and sunbathe with other dogs, and even curl up on the couch or sleep in bed with her humans.
Ideal Home
Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not, both because she's still a puppy and because building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog and requires patience, compassion, and commitment. She does well with other dogs after proper acclimation, and we strongly believe she would thrive with a confident canine companion to follow and learn from. Adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
Ongoing Health
Trix is housebroken and loves her crate. She is learning to walk on a leash.
Training & Support
Trix is shy at first around new people, including children, but her fear does not lead to reactivity. She is a diamond in the rough who will require patience and commitment to help her find her courage.
