Meet Percy: proof that perfection comes in wonderfully weird packages!
Percy is a 3-year-old, 31-pound American Staffordshire Terrier mix who may not be destined for the Westminster Dog Show, but he's a strong contender for "Most Likely to Steal Your Heart." He's a certified kiss enthusiast and once you've earned his trust, prepare for face kisses, neck kisses, enthusiastic belly-rub requests, and a permanent shadow who insists on accompanying you everywhere. This boy has places to go and things to sniff! Percy loves car rides, walks, and investigating every blade of grass. He's great on leash, though soft sandy beaches are a firm "no thank you." His prey drive is refreshingly low, happily ignoring rabbits on walks. At home, Percy enjoys couch surfing, supervising the neighborhood from his favorite armchair, and then rewarding himself with a well-earned nap. He doesn't mind a crate, but he's been enjoying the freedom of home life in his current foster placement. He also takes his role as Household Property Manager very seriously.
Ideal Home
Percy appreciates slow introductions to new people, dogs, and children, and needs a chance to figure everyone out. He's looking for people who appreciate personality, celebrate individuality, and know that the most unforgettable dogs are often the ones who break the mold.
Ongoing Health
Percy has some bumps and skin tags, and is hairless from the middle down.
Training & Support
Percy may feel compelled to update a few previously marked locations while he settles in. A good enzymatic cleaner and a sense of humor will go a long way. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
