Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup, weighing 7 lbs and expected to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. She's affectionate, loving, and adores doting humans. Curious and confident, she loves exploring new things and is a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and dog friends. Her friendly nature makes her a great companion for an active family that wants their furry friend involved in everyday life. Annie has a laid-back demeanor, perfect for a family seeking a pup that adapts easily and enjoys adventures. She's happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with other dogs, cuddling, or enjoying playtime in the yard. Annie can be active and playful, or relaxed and mellow for couch cuddles. She's also great at entertaining herself with toys or napping. Her adaptable personality means she'd fit beautifully into various homes. She'd love an active family for walks and outdoor adventures, but would be equally happy with a family enjoying cozy evenings at home.

Ideal Home

Annie would thrive in a home with a fenced yard for running and playing, offering plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. She'd be happiest with another playful, friendly dog and children to play and cuddle with. Alternatively, she would be perfectly content as the "only child," receiving all the love and affection. She would love to go on adventures around town or to Sniff Spots for enrichment. A home where someone works from home or has a hybrid schedule is ideal, but she cannot go more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks, so a dog sitter or daycare is recommended for longer workdays. She would do best with older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her gently, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. Her humans will need to watch for chewing as she begins to teethe. She would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before, as she is a puppy and will want to play.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary vet care while in rescue.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and naps in it during the day. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door; using a doggy doorbell is recommended for training. She needs a consistent schedule and frequent potty breaks initially, but adjusts quickly. She needs additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills. As she is starting to teeth, her humans will need to supervise her to prevent her from chewing on inappropriate items.

Transportation

Annie is currently in a foster home. She can be transported to various cities/states, with monthly transports available. Adoptive families will need to meet the transport to pick up their new family member. Dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to transport, and meet-and-greets are not possible due to transport distance.
