Sherbet is a charming pup with a unique charm, including a captivating blue eye that might just stay that way! He's one of five adorable puppies who were surrendered to PUP and are now looking for their forever homes. Their mom is described as a cream-colored, short-coated dog weighing around 30 pounds. The identity of the father is unknown, but given the variety of dogs in the area, he could be a mix of many breeds. DNA testing is in progress, but for now, we suspect breeds like Eskimo Dog, a smaller herding breed, Chihuahua, or Husky might be in the mix. Based on his current size and age, Sherbet is expected to be a medium-sized dog when fully grown, but his adopter should be prepared to love him regardless of his final size. At 7 weeks old, Sherbet weighed 5.3 lbs.
Ideal Home
Sherbet's ideal home will be one that is committed to his socialization and training. This includes exposing him to a variety of new environments, sounds, and people, as well as ensuring he has ample opportunities to interact with dogs of all temperaments. Puppy socialization classes and continued obedience training will be crucial for his development into a well-adjusted canine citizen.
Ongoing Health
Sherbet has had a vet check and is up-to-date on deworming and vaccinations. He will require two additional puppy vaccinations and a rabies vaccination at the adopter's expense. His required spay/neuter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if performed at the PUP clinic by 6 months of age.
Training & Support
Early socialization is key to Sherbet's success. He needs consistent exposure to new experiences, including various sounds, people, and other dogs, to develop good social skills. Puppy playdates, trips to pet-friendly stores, and attending socialization and obedience classes are highly recommended. A tired dog is a happy dog, so ensuring he gets enough physical and mental stimulation will be important.
