About Sentry
Sentry is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. His mom, Wanda, weighs approximately 55 pounds. Sentry was rescued from the woods with his mom and siblings during a Texas freeze and has grown up loved and cared for. He wakes up happy and ready for cuddles, playtime, walks, and making everyday moments fun. Sentry loves people, other dogs, and life itself. He's goofy, affectionate, playful, and endlessly loving, greeting you with enthusiasm every day.
As an older puppy, Sentry has a great balance of playful energy and a developing calm demeanor. He is potty trained and is growing into a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing, friendly, and eager to make new friends, always first in line for pets and happy to be included in activities. He has been raised with his littermates and mom and enjoys playing with other dogs. He has done well with children and has received positive attention from adults and kids alike at community events. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature into an exceptional adult dog. Consistent positive reinforcement and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Socialization is key for a dog his age, so safe, positive experiences with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs are essential for building lifelong confidence. We prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Sentry, teaching him appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If you don't currently have a dog, please share your plan for continued socialization, such as training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we prefer homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, allowing for regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained and is continuing to learn about the world around him. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice are recommended. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building his confidence.
Application Details:
- Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- If you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview.
