Mickie

Mickie is a sweet and intelligent Chihuahua mix who is approximately 2 years and 7 months old and weighs 18.7 lbs. He is very social and enjoys being around people and other dogs. While he may be a little reserved at first, he quickly blossoms into an affectionate companion once he feels comfortable and trusts you. Mickie loves to run, play, go for walks, and spend quality time with his humans. He is obedient, playful, and incredibly loving, enjoying both giving and receiving affection. He gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, making him a wonderful match for many families. Mickie is crate-trained for sleeping and thrives on a routine. He is eager to bond, learn, and adapt, and will undoubtedly become a loving and loyal member of his adoptive family.

Ideal Home

Mickie would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He would also do well in a home with children and other dogs. A family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, and an open mind about the behaviors and needs of rescued animals, is ideal. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended. High tolerance and patience for a rescued puppy are essential.

Ongoing Health

Mickie has received a comprehensive health protocol including: Spay/Neuter Certificate, 2 DHPPI Vaccines, Rabies Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, Deworming, Microchip, 4DX Test and Certificate, Negative Heartworm Test Certificate, and monthly Nexgard Spectra (fleas, ticks, and heartworm) preventive. He also has a Health Certificate and Vaccine Booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and may not be house-trained.

Training & Support

Mickie is not house-trained. Patience and understanding are crucial for rescued dogs as they may have fears or anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt to new environments and people. Providing a safe and loving environment, establishing a routine, and setting clear boundaries will help Mickie feel secure and strengthen the bond with his new owner.

• You will be asked to fill out an adoption form.
• Photos and videos of your home are required to ensure your future furry friend will be safe.
• If it’s a potential match, we will schedule a call or video chat for an introduction and virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1-2 references.
• Upon approval, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover the pet's vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transportation

Mickie is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip. Door-to-door delivery is available for a one-time fee of $400 USD. Our transport process includes scheduled trips 3-4 times a year, with a contracted transport company collecting adopted pets from Mexico. Each pet will have all necessary legal documents, including a Transport Contract, USDA Health Certificate, and health protocol certificates. For US adoptions, pets will be escorted across the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, pets will be delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates during the journey. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home and conduct a final home review.
