Ritchey Roo, a delightful mix of exuberant energy and laid-back charm, is estimated to be about 5-6 years old and currently weighs in at a hefty 90 lbs. He was once quite underweight, and while we’ve worked to get him to a healthy weight, he could now benefit from a diet and/or increased physical activity. Ritchey was made to be a best friend, and he absolutely adores humans. He enjoys lounging around inside and out, soaking up affection, and simply being in your presence. He's a happy boy who isn't shy about sharing his joy!
Ritchey can be a quiet couch potato, but he also has bursts of energy, going from zero to ten the moment a leash appears or someone walks through the door. He can be gentle, but also a bit boisterous with his jumping and excitement, especially around food or when a walk is imminent. He has a hound-like vocalness, but he only speaks when he has something to say, often with humorous effect. He's house-trained, does well when left alone, and even learned the command "OVER" to create a little more space in bed. While he doesn't seem interested in toys or fetch, he loves car rides and walks, though he does require leash training as he is a strong puller. Ultimately, Ritchey is content lounging and running in a yard. He is independent enough not to be a "velcro dog" but loves your company.
Ideal Home
Ritchey would thrive in a home with a fenced yard. As he can be overwhelming with his excitement and jumping, he is best suited as the only spoiled pup in the home.
Ongoing Health
Ritchey arrived underweight and is now a bit on the heavier side. He would benefit from a diet and/or increased physical activity.
Training & Support
Ritchey needs leash training as he is a strong puller. He can also be boisterous with jumping and excitement, especially when food or leashes are involved. He has learned to respond to the command "OVER" to create personal space in bed.
