Essex

Essex is as close to a Cockapoo as they come, according to his DNA! This dapper fellow is about 5 years old and weighs in at a petite 10 pounds. He's a pro at amusing himself for hours with his toys and loves to zoom around the yard. He also enjoys a good game of chase with his canine companions, though he can be a bit bossy and would do best as an only dog or with one laid-back friend. Essex walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, but he does have a playful habit of marking other dogs' beds. He's a very precocious and alpha little dog, so he'll need an experienced owner who can appreciate his spirited personality. When he was rescued, Essex was very matted and had to be shaved down to the skin, but his coat is now growing back beautifully!

Ideal Home

Essex would be a great companion for someone older who can appreciate his unique personality. He would do best as an only dog or with one laid-back companion. We do not adopt to anyone with children under the age of 8 years.

Ongoing Health

Essex was shaved down due to matting when he was rescued, but his coat is growing back nicely now.

Training & Support

Essex is mostly house-trained but does occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He is described as a precocious and alpha little dog that needs an experienced owner.
