Meet Ellie May! This stunning 2-year-old Blue Great Dane weighs about 90 pounds and is one of the sweetest girls you could ever hope to meet. With her calm, loving personality and gentle nature, Ellie May is happiest when she’s simply near her people soaking up love and companionship.

Ellie May does wonderfully with people of all sizes and would love nothing more than a family of her own to call hers. She gets along well with both dogs and cats and has a laid-back personality that makes her an easy companion. She is house broken, does great in a kennel, and absolutely loves curling up on her dog bed for some relaxation time.

Like all of us, Ellie May has one little quirk — she absolutely adores stuffed toys and takes her love for them very seriously! She has shown some guarding behavior with stuffed toys around other dogs, so her foster family simply removed them and the issue was easily managed.

Ellie May also had a bump in the road on her journey. She tested positive for heartworms, but she has completed the fast-kill treatment and should be good as new moving forward.

This sweet, gentle giant is ready to leave the hard parts behind and find a forever family that will give her all the love she deserves. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate best friend with a giant heart, Ellie May may be your perfect match.

Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.)

You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization.

Her adoption fee is $350. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar.

Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.

Our adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

• IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas.

Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.

Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease.

All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative and a leash and collar.

If your adoption application is approved and you are traveling from out-of-town, we hold your chosen pet for one hour past the event start time to allow for travel time.

We are an all-volunteer organization and do not currently have the resources to process out-of-state adoptions.

Our puppies, purebred dogs, and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so we encourage interested parties to apply online.
