Meet Penny, a 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix with a bright spirit, big heart, and a whole lot of love to give. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives in an environment where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always on the lookout for her next adventure or someone to cuddle. Penny is incredibly affectionate and emotionally tuned into her people, happy to snuggle and give you soulful gazes. She gives love tenfold once she feels safe and understood. Penny has likely experienced past trauma, as she flinches easily and shows signs of needing reassurance and calm, consistent care. With time and support, Penny will blossom into a confident, loyal, and deeply devoted companion.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy. She also needs a home that provides structure, patience, and understanding, and doesn't expect perfection immediately. A cat-free home is recommended due to prey-driven behavior observed outdoors.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and is learning to be more comfortable with separation, though she may whine or bark when left alone due to her strong bond with her humans. She is not crate trained and prefers to be close to her people. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are picked up and food is put away, but may chew on dog beds when bored. Penny can come on a little strong during play, especially with smaller or more timid dogs, and does best with confident, medium-to-large dogs. She can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, requiring separation at mealtime and during treat time, but this is improving with clear boundaries and respectful management. She gets excited on leash but settles with guidance.
