Rusty

Rusty is a familiar face to our rescue. As a puppy, he overcame parvo and went on to find a home of his own. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, Rusty was recently returned after having difficulty getting along with the family's smaller dog. Now he's looking for a forever home that's the right fit.

Rusty is an approximately 1.5-year-old dog with a loving, energetic personality. He absolutely loves belly scratches, going for walks, and curling up to snuggle with his people. He forms strong bonds with his family and enjoys being included in everyday life.

Ideal Home

Rusty does well with children and would do best in a home with dogs over approximately 40 pounds. He has shown that he does not do well with smaller dogs.

Ongoing Health

Rusty is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, on monthly preventative, dewormed, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Rusty is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several commands including "sit," "stay," and waiting for permission before eating his meals. He walks well on a leash for the most part but can become excited when he sees another dog, so continued work on leash manners will help him continue to improve. He can be protective of his food around other dogs, so supervised feeding and proper introductions are important.
