Meet Tonka!
Tonka is a big, goofy, lovable Akita with a silly personality and plenty of affection to share. He loves walks, frozen Kongs, puzzle toys, squeaky toys, and any activity that keeps his mind engaged. When he's excited, he's all kisses and enthusiasm, and he's learning his manners every day. Tonka was born in February 2026 and is being fostered in Texas.
Ideal Home
Tonka is looking for an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who understands the unique traits and needs of Akitas and is committed to providing structure, training, and proper management. He would thrive with an active family and a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy supervised outdoor time. Tonka has a strong prey drive and is very interested in squirrels and cats, so he will need careful introductions to other pets and may be happiest as the only dog in the home. Because we're still learning his preferences with other dogs, any introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs will be current on vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention. A heartworm test will be done for dogs over 6 months old. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.
Training & Support
Tonka's ideal family will appreciate his goofy spirit, continue his training, and understand that building trust and maintaining boundaries are key to helping him succeed.

- The adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call.
- MNS reserves the right to deny any application that is deemed unsuitable for the animal.
- Adoptions are not on a first come, first serve basis. Our sole purpose is to find the best possible home for the animals that fall under our care.
Transporation
Tonka is currently being fostered in Texas but is available for transport to a predetermined location agreed upon by Wags. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport.
