Honey is a 6-month-old, 35lb Red Heeler mix who is spayed and looking for her forever home! This sweet girl is deaf, which means she's a special needs pup. Honey is expected to grow to about 45lbs when fully grown. She came to us through one of our partner rescue groups who save dogs from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia. Many of these areas have limited spay/neuter resources, leading to a higher number of homeless animals. Our rescue efforts help bring these wonderful dogs to areas where they have a better chance of finding loving families.
Ideal Home
Honey needs an adopter with INTERMEDIATE to EXPERT-level dog ownership experience, especially with high-energy breeds. She requires at least 2 consecutive hours of vigorous exercise daily, plus potty breaks and mental stimulation throughout the day. Her adopter must have prior experience with dogs of similar energy levels and temperaments, or extensive puppy-raising experience. Homes with children should be 8 years or older, as puppies can be mouthy and accidentally hurt younger children.
Ongoing Health
Honey is currently healthy. She is up to date on her DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, is spayed, microchipped, and has been treated with dewormer.
Training & Support
Honey is still working on potty training and leash manners. She is likely not crate trained but this is a skill that can be taught. She has a high level of mouthiness, which is normal for puppies, and will require patience and proper outlets. Like most puppies, she may experience some separation anxiety as she learns to self-soothe. We strongly recommend professional, reward-based dog training from the start.
