Meet Ariel! She's a 4-year-old, 10 lb Yorkie mix with a heart full of devotion, just waiting to be someone's special sidekick. Ariel is a tiny package with a big personality, much like her likely Yorkie heritage. She's described as sweet, snuggly, and affectionate, especially once she decides you're her person. She bonds deeply and becomes loyal and loving, craving adoration and a cherished spot in your life. Ariel has a medium energy level, enjoying playtime without being overly boisterous. She's already mastered house-training and crate-training, thriving on routine and patience.
Ideal Home
Ariel is looking for an experienced, adult-only home. She would prefer to be the only pet to be the undisputed "leading lady" of the household, although she can get along with other dogs with proper introductions. She has not been tested with cats, but may tolerate them if they are respectful of her space. Ariel needs a home that understands canine body language and is committed to positive, structured handling. A fenced yard is recommended as she continues to work on her leash skills.
Ongoing Health
Ariel is currently on Prozac for anxiety, which is proving to be very effective.
Training & Support
Ariel has a history of resource guarding, and can escalate to using her teeth if her boundaries are not respected. This includes guarding food, space, and people. She communicates her discomfort with growls, and these signals must be respected and not corrected or punished. She requires an adopter who will give her time to decompress, avoid pressure, and build trust at her pace. With proper management, predictable routines, and continued work on boundaries, she can continue to make progress.
