Shelby is a 6-month-old, spayed female Shepherd/Hound/Terrier mix who currently weighs 39 pounds. She's expected to be a large dog when fully grown, with a charmingly long body. Shelby is a happy, goofy, and affectionate puppy with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. She was rescued with her mom and sister from a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, and has truly blossomed in her foster home. Shelby is curious about the world, eager to learn, and deeply connected to her people, making her a delight to be around.

Shelby would thrive in an active home that enjoys a dog's companionship and attention. She needs a family that is patient with puppy training and wants an affectionate family member. Training & Support
Shelby is still learning the ropes of house training and has made great progress. While she shows subtle cues when she needs to go outside, consistency will help her master this quickly. She sleeps through the night in her crate and tolerates it, but she is social and happiest when included in daily life, so excessive crating should be avoided. Shelby is still working on her basic training, but she already knows how to sit and walks nicely on a harness. Her enthusiasm means she can sometimes bark at passing people or dogs from a car window, and while she has shown mild growling with her sister, it appears to be related to puppy competition for attention rather than true resource guarding. She enjoys sniffing and would likely benefit from scent-based activities.

Transporation
Shelby is currently in a foster home in Washougal, Washington, and is available for meet and greets there. Transports run every few weeks, and approved adopters will be placed on the next available transport to their area.
