About Comet

Comet, a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix, is an affectionate and resilient boy ready to find his forever family! He was saved from the county shelter after being found as a stray. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a playful pup with a good energy level, who loves to run zoomies! He has a balanced play style and has shown no food aggression with his foster siblings.

Ideal Home

Comet has done well with indoor cats and children and would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to snuggle and play with. He has a bit of a herding instinct, so we typically recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate without whining and does not pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. While Comet doesn't appear to have separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised as he has a tendency to taste-test things. He is a bit wary of men but adores his foster dad and will warm up with patience and consistency. Comet is eager to please and easy to train, requiring gentle guidance rather than harsh corrections.
